Monasterace is home to the National Archaeological Museum of Ancient Kaulon with its Archaeological Park and the highly recommended Underwater Archaeological Park, which can be explored whilst floating with a mask and fins; these sites preserve the remains of the Greek polis, such as the Doric temple, the Baths of Nannon and the famous Dragon and Dolphin mosaics dating back to the 3rd century BC. In the upper part of Monasterace, a village perched on the hill, you can visit the Byzantine-era castle and the remains of the city walls.
Activities
The beaches of Monasterace offer the chance to enjoy all kinds of water sports: canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, pedalos, kayaking and kitesurfing. Access to the beaches is easy and car parks are not too far away, making it simple to transport boards and various equipment. The seafront is equipped with basketball and volleyball courts, brand-new fitness equipment by the sea and free showers to cool off. Inland lie the Campomarzio hills, which offer trekking routes and nature trails to discover breathtaking views just a stone’s throw from the Ionian coast. About 10 kilometres away, you can visit the famous Cattolica di Stilo.

Check in from 3 PM and check out by 10 AM. Door-to-door waste collection is regulated by the municipal calendar. Household waste must be appropriately bagged, placed in the appropriate containers provided and left outside the house the evening before the corresponding collection.
